Tribute to our Website Administrator

By John Bristow & Rosemary Ross

The Society, and particularly the team established to spearhead the creation of the new Harpenden History website, was greatly saddened to learn of David Hinton’s untimely death on 31 August.

As our Website Administrator, he played a key role in the development of our website within the Community Sites framework and was, indeed, an active contributor of articles.  David was an untiring source of support, advice and guidance, and was due to play a key role in the official launch on 24 September.  He will be greatly missed by all in the Society but the website will serve as a lasting tribute to the dedication and capability with which he applied himself to this exciting and now fruitful initiative.

Below we add a tribute to David from his brother Oliver, who spoke at David’s funeral on 16 September 2011.  This shows with what energy and enthusiasm he supported so many other local groups and individuals in Harpenden, including the repair of instruments for Harpenden Musicale.
