The History Society has a room at Park Hall, Leyton Road, where artifacts and archival material are stored, including an extensive collection of historic photographs.
An exhibition of a selection of photographs and other items from the collection is held every quarter in the main hall, open to all. The History Centre is also open when there is an exhibition, and you are welcome to look at the archives and resources we have.
Exhibitions at Park Hall are usually open from 2.30 to 4.30 pm.

The NEXT exhibition WILL BE on
Saturday, 7 September - Watercolours in the Harpenden History Society collection
The Harpenden and District Local History Society's picture collection was started by the Lawes family and their friends, in the early 1900's, as the basis for a local museum. In 1927 Victor Tylson Hodgson gave the Hodgson Collection, including pictures by Dennis Wilson and the Wilson sisters of Rivers Lodge, and various artefacts to Harpenden Urban District Council, when he moved to Fort William. More paintings have been added since, and scans of many of them can be seen in the Picture Gallery on this website.
The collection and various artefacts were stored in a cupboard in the strong room at Harpenden Hall and came into the care of the Local History Society in 1974, at the formation of St Albans City and District Council.
