Dora Barrett's Christmas cards

Dora Barrett, who lived at Highlands, Kinsbourne Green, sent prints of her drawings to friends and neighbours with Christmas greetings, probably between the 1950s and 1980s.

Only one in the gallery below shows an obvious hint of Christmas, but all gave pleasure to their recipients, including her neighbour Eileen Haines, who knew Dora from their time as pupils at the Luton High School for girls. These scans are copyright of Eileen Haines’ Estate.

A keen member of Harpenden Local History Society, she contributed several articles, now on this website, including her memories such as “A landgirl remembers working at Annables‘ and ‘Horse & Hound and Gypsies on Kinsbourne Green’.
