  • I believe my grandfather Mr George Hawes used to be a brick maker on Hatching Green.  I have a vague recollection of the remains of a kiln somewhere opposite the White Horse. He lived somewhere in the Heath Road area, and died in 1916.

  • Lovely memories of visiting the White Horse when my mother, Enid Summers, worked at the pub in the late ’60s, when the owners were George and Mango Tribe.  Scampi and chicken in the basket were regular meals, moving into other restaurant fare, but still a pub.
