Field House in the 1940s

When my grandparents Roland (1906-1973) and Irene Walker (1908-2001) moved from Moreton Avenue they bought Field House around 1946 and lived there until 1951 when it became a children’s home. I have some photos of the back and front taken by my grandfather, who was an excellent photographer with his own dark room.

My grandmother and aunts often talked about the house in later life, and remembered the large gardens with tennis court, the big glass house, and the billiard room.
